Emma Carlstedt-Duke
Mat & Reformer
How did you come to Pilates?
Having taught Secondary PE for the past 10 years, whilst also competing in equestrian and CrossFit, being a Pilates keen bean has had a place in my life for over 5 years so qualifying as a Pilates instructor made sense for the next chapter of the book.
What is your professional background and training?
Gaining my Level 3 Mat and Level 4 Reformer through London Pilates Academy not only taught me the key principles of Pilates but it developed my love for movement and desire to share this with my clients.
What do you love most about teaching?
Being able to watch someone’s confidence grow and develop their love of movement is a privilege. Knowing that you have been part of that journey is even better!
Are there any types of clients you particularly enjoy working with?
Anyone who wants to move with purpose and give themselves the time to switch off from the outside chaos!
How would you describe your classes in a few words?
Dynamic, focused, full-body, energising, inclusive.
What do you hope someone feels or experiences in your classes?
With clear guidance and flowing sequences you’ll work with intention to build strength whilst deepening an awareness of mindful movement.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not teaching?
When I’m not teaching in the studio I’m training for the next fitness challenge (the year of 2026 is the Otillö race in Sweden), adventuring off to a new country or cheering on my nephew from the side of a hockey pitch!
Is there anything else you’d like people to know about you or your teaching?
Pilates is more than just the movement on the mat, it’s about the person on the mat so I can’t wait to get to know you all in the studio!
